The NEC ND-3500A DVD BurnerNEC outdid theirselves
when they created the ND-3500A DVD drive.
This full-height IDE/ATAPI UltraDMA 33 burner was ahead of its time when it appeared,
offering the ability to burn at 4x speeds onto 2.4x Dual Layer media,
and burn at 12X speeds onto 8x single-layer recordable DVD media.
Its long feature list includes about everything anyone could think
of at the time, except for DVD-RAM (which would become more commonly
supported in later years) and Mt. Ranier
(which seems on its way to becoming an irrelevant standard).
