Software Architects Ships UDF Reader for Windows

Software Architects has announced WriteDVD! for Windows NT. The software is designed to give NT users the ability to read and write Universal Disk Format (UDF) discs, required by DVD-RAM drives. WriteDVD! provides a familiar drive-letter access interface, allowing Windows users to use their DVD-RAM discs "like a floppy", without need for special operations to "close a session".

Someday, UDF support will hopefully be built right into Windows, which should reduce the number of cross-software incompatibilities. It's not uncommon at the moment to find that an optical disc burned with one brand of software is not readable on another computer that uses a different brand of UDF reader.
