Host Backup Strategies Tested by Worm

All too many small-time (and not-so-small!) webmasters implicitly rely on the vender providing their web hosting to backup their data. That's not always a good strategy, as you can see in this article about web hosts that were taken out by worm attacks.

If you are a webmaster, make sure you have a backup strategy for your website that will enable you to move the data to a new host quickly and easily. And make sure you test that scheme periodically, by setting up a temporary local clone of your website, for example. A worm attack is no time to learn that you can't easily move your website to a new host!
