Database Archiving a Growing Problem

Drew Robb has written an informative article in Computerworld about the growing problem of database archiving and information lifecycle management. It's one thing to design a database to serve a large organization, but with no archiving plan, the database growth is unbounded, and important transactions just get slower and slower.

One interesting point is that deciding what to archive is perhaps best done from the prespective of legal and business process issues, not from the perspective of just technical issues. You can read the entire article online.
