Remote Registry Admin, If You Dare!

TechRepublic has published a short article by Jim Wells on how to remotely access a user's registry with Windows XP Pro. He points out that getting the permissions set correctly to allow remote access is perhaps more difficult than actually performing the remote access.

As is common with registry-tinkering articles, this one admonishes you to backup the registry before beginning. As usual, I have to wonder how many people actual perform that step before starting to modify the registry. Now that you can easily tweak away on some remote user's registry without even getting out of your chair, I have to imagine that even more registry operations will be performed without the benefit of a prior backup.

You can read the entire article online at TechRepublic's website.
