Backup Critic Storage/Media Deals PageLightScribe Wins Award Despite Not ShippingOver at TMCNet.com is an announcement of the many HP products that have won awards during the last three months. Among those was LightScribe, which won Popular Science's "Best of What's New 2004". Alas, the technology is not shipping this year, so we'll have to wait until 2005 to experience the best of 2004, apparently. Hewlett-Packard's LightScribe is a new technology for labelling optical discs, burning labels onto the non-data side using the same laser used to read/write data. LightScribe requires a special optical drive, specially coated media, and special software to control the burning process. See Also
