Backup Critic Storage/Media Deals PagePolicy Maker Preserves Settings Across BackupsAutoProf is shipping version 2.0 of their Policy Maker software, which extends the Windows Group Policy for rapidly configuring desktops across an enterprise. The new extensions include things like power management, so a single administrator can, for example, set the amount of idle time before power saving kicks in across all the Windows computers in a company. Of interest from a Windows backup perspective, the product attempts to preserve its settings across backup, restore, import, copy and paste operations performed on a Group Policy Object. The ability to keep backup/restore from inadvertantly losing configuration information is something that perhaps more software packages should attempt. See Also
