ExtremeMhz Reviews LightScribe DVD from BenQ

ExtremeMhz has posted a review of the BenQ DW1625, a new DVD burner that supports HP's LightScribe technology. The drive has all the modern features you might expect, including speeds of 40x CD-R writing speed, 16x DVD+R writing speed, 8x DVD-R writing speed, and 2.4x DVD+R DL writing speed (the latter slightly disappointing since other BenQ drives can write dual-layer DVD+R discs at 4x).

As far as the LightScribe support went, it was interesting that the reviewer characterized Nero's LightScribe software as "certainly not the best". He prefers the Surething CD/DVD Labeler, the latest version of which supports LightScribe drives.

In summary, the reviewer was disappointed in the slow 2.4x dual layer write speed and inability to overburn 8x media. However, he was impressed with its ripping speed and load times.
