Backup Critic Storage/Media Deals PageRAID for Compact Flash "Drives" and Windows XPOK, is this cool or just weird? It's a Contec PCI card that you can plug two CompactFlash cards into. You can then make the two CF cards a RAID 0 (striped) or RAID 1 (mirrored) array. You can also just make the two CompactFlash cards like like one combined big drive. The PCI card can take CF cards that are 1GB, 2GB, 4GB, or 8GB in size. Apparently the target market is people making PCs that are subject to serious vibration (the CompactFlash, of course, has no moving parts to damage) or that need silent operation. One of the CF slots is on the internal portion of the card (you would have to open up the PC to insert or remove a card there), but the other CF slot is on the outward facing edge of the PCI card. This offers opportunities like storing the O/S on the internal card and data on the easy-to-remove card. See Also
